Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) sparked controversy on Wednesday when he took to social media to immediately blame “the Radical Left” for the tragic shooting of 5 soldiers on a Georgia Army base earlier in the day.

Tuberville shared a breaking news report on the shooting from Fox News and wrote, “Praying for the safety of everyone in Fort Stewart. This is the DIRECT RESULT of the Radical Left’s constant demonization of law enforcement and our military service members.”

The alleged shooter was later identified as 28-year-old Army Sergeant Quornelius Samentrio Radford, an automated logistics sergeant assigned to the Second Brigade Combat Team.

Brigadier General John Lubas, a third infantry commanding general, told reporters during an afternoon press conference following the shooting that Radford had not been previously deployed, but was stationed at Fort Stewart.

“The shooting occurred at the soldier’s place of work. It did involve his co-workers. We’re still not certain about the motivations,” Lubas said of the attack that left the 5 soldiers wounded.

Tuberville was quickly put on blast for his comment. “This is a reprehensibly irresponsible statement to make by a sitting US senator when we know almost nothing about the shooter’s motive and background other than he was a fellow active duty soldier,” replied Amy McGrath, the former Kentucky U.S. Senate candidate.
