Vance Dodges Question About Why He Won’t Answer Question About Who Won the 2020 Election: ‘The Media Is Obsessed’
Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) made a campaign stop in Michigan the day after his vice presidential debate against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), and he was asked about a question he refused to answer — and refused to answer it again.
Vance made headlines for dodging a direct question from Walz, referring to former President Donald Trump: “Did he lose the 2020 election?”
Vance’s answer: “Tim, I’m focused on the future. Did [Vice President] Kamala Harris censor Americans from speaking their mind in the wake of the 2020 Covid situation?”
When asked by reporter Will Jones of Michigan’s Local 4 News why he didn’t answer the question, Vance provided another non-answer:
Jones: I spoke with some elected officials, or election officials last week about their concern about people who are trying to undermine our elections. Why didn’t you answer the question last night during the debate about who won the 2020 presidential election?
Vance: Well, look, here’s the simple reason — the media is obsessed with talking about the election of four years ago. I’m focused on the election of 33 days from now because I want to throw Kamala Harris out of office and get back to commonsense economic policies.
Vance then blamed Democrats in Congress for blocking a bill “that would have ensured illegal aliens don’t vote in our elections.” It is already illegal for people who are not American citizens to vote in U.S. elections.
