George Santos Falls For Parody Taliban Account That Tells Him, ‘We Are Very Happy That You Will Not Be Having Any Offspring’

Several current and former members of Congress, in addition to one former White House official, have fallen for fake and parody social media posts in recent years. On Friday, Rep. George Santos (R-NY) added himself to the list.
Santos — who was hit with federal charges of fraud, conspiracy, and identity theft this month — got into an argument with a parody Taliban social media account on Friday after the account told him the Taliban was “very happy that you will not be having any offspring.”
The argument began on X, formerly known as Twitter, after Santos wrote, “As a gay man, I’m curious: Since Hamas is unlikely to have any tall buildings left, I’m curious how they intend to execute gay people in the future. Does @LGBTQ4Palestine have any idea?”
The “Taliban Public Relations Department, Commentary” — a parody account that has made headlines for its satirical content — replied, “Mr Santos, we are very happy that you will not be having any offspring. I mean, who wants more of you?” to which Santos protested, “V[ery] on brand for you to assumes gays don’t have kids.”
“Mr Santos, this statement is very confusing for us. Are you suggesting that you can get pregnant. Have you given birth before and if yes, how? What you’re saying doesn’t make sense,” the parody account responded, at which point Santos stopped replying.
The interaction confused some social media users, with one person commenting, “Why is George santos responding to the ‘Taliban Public Relations Department.'”
The Taliban Public Relations Department, Commentary was created in July 2023 and has amassed more than 62,000 followers with its trollish tweets.

The first post users see when visiting the account is a satirical Afghanistan tourism ad which invites tourists to visit a country “inhabited by muscular men and traditional women,” and assures, “You will be 100% safe since the war is over and we no longer capturing tourists for ransom.”
