Harris Campaign Tells ‘Scared’ Trump to ‘Man Up’ and Debate Her in Response to Maria Bartiromo Interview

Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign taunted Donald Trump and his latest non-commitment to a debate with her, calling him “scared.”

“He’s got no problem spreading lies and hateful garbage at his rallies or in interviews with right-wing commentators. But he’s apparently too scared to do it standing across the stage from the Vice President of the United States,” Cedric Richmond, the co-chair of Harris for President, said in a statement. “Since he talks the talk, he should walk the walk and – as Vice President Harris said earlier this week – say it to her face on September 10. She’ll be there waiting to see if he’ll show up.”

The campaign statement specifically references a recent interview between Trump and Fox’s Maria Bartiromo. During their discussion, Bartiromo asked about a debate and Trump questioned why he would need to do one.

“I mean right now I say, why should I do a debate?” he said. “I’m leading in the polls, and everybody knows her, everybody knows me.”

The statement from Harris for President said the president “dodged, squirmed and made excuses for why he’s too scared to face Kamala Harris on the debate stage.

Harris has secured enough delegates to be the Democratic Party’s nominee, and Trump previously agreed to a September debate with President Joe Biden when he was still running for reelection.

Trump also told Laura Ingraham this week he will “probably” debate. He’s suggested the debate be moved from ABC News.

“I want to do a debate. But I also can say this. Everybody knows who I am. And now people know who she is,” he said.
