Kamala Harris Hits Back At Trump For ‘Demeaning and Belittling’ The U.S. By Calling Country a ‘Garbage Can’

Vice President Kamala Harris hit back at former President Donald Trump for declaring the United States was “like a garbage can for the world” due to immigration.

Trump made the remark earlier this week at a rally in Arizona and repeated it Friday in Austin, Texas.

“I also do want to address the comment that Donald Trump made about America being the trash can of the world, whatever he said, something along those lines,” Harris said from her own Texas rally in Houston.

You know, it’s just another example of how he really belittles our country. This is someone who is a former president of the United States who has a bully pulpit. And this is how he uses it? To tell the rest of the world that somehow the United States of America is trash. And I think, again, the president of the United States should be someone who elevates discourse and talks about the best of who we are and invests in the best of who we are. Not someone like Donald Trump who is constantly demeaning and belittling who the American people are. America deserves better.

While Trump discussed immigration, Harris planned to highlight the effects of a post-Roe America on women’s health. Music star Beyoncé was expected to perform.

“Harris will also be joined at the rally by women who have nearly died from sepsis and other pregnancy complications because they were unable to get proper medical care, including women who never intended to end their pregnancies,” the Associated Press reported. The Harris campaign is banking on the abortion issue to help swing undecided voters in her favor on Nov. 5.

Trump has taken credit for appointing conservative U.S. Supreme Court justices who voted down the 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized a woman’s right to an abortion in all 50 states.
