The Republican frontrunner entered the state’s former Gov. Nikki Haley’s backyard with the purpose of upstaging his rival at her home turf. He teased his appearance before arriving to South Carolina’s biggest sporting event of the year by writing on Truth Social, “Will be a terrific game. See you all later!”
However his appearance was met with a mixed reaction of boos denouncing the former president and cheers from his supporters. According to a video posted by Fox sport correspondent Beth Hoole, as Trump’s vehicle arrived to the stadium a mix of cheers but also chants of “fuck you!” could be heard in the background.

Trump attended the event as a guest to the state’s current Gov. Henry McMaster and watched the game in a private suite with South Carolina’s senior GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham in attendance.
Politico reported that the reception to Trump at William-Brice Stadium in Columbia on Saturday night was chants of “We want Trump! We want Trump!” from the gathered fans.
Per Politico vendors also sold Trump related merchandise and while supporters chanted “Let’s Go Brandon!”:
Some vendors around the venue, meanwhile, hawked Trump-related merchandise, including ‘Trump 2020’ flags, from the previous election cycle. And some fans entering the stadium before Trump’s arrival chanted ‘Let’s Go Brandon!’ — a derogatory reference to President Joe Biden, who defeated Trump in 2020.
