President-Elect Donald Trump will name his 2024 campaign co-chair Susie Wiles as chief of staff in his second term. Wiles previously worked for Trump’s Save America super PAC and ran point for the former president’s campaign in Florida during his successful 2016 run.

The Trump campaign announced Wiles’ appointment on Thursday.

“Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns,” Trump said in a statement. “Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again. It is a well deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”

Wiles, who is the daughter of the late NFL player and broadcaster Pat Summerall, reportedly had some reservations about taking the position, a source told CNN. At issue is who else will have access to Trump in the Oval Office.

“The clown car can’t come into the White House at will,” the source said of Wiles’ concerns. “And he agrees with her.”

In his first term, Trump cycled through four chiefs of staff.

Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday in convincing fashion. Republicans retook control of the Senate and appear poised to hold on to their narrow lead in the House, which would give them a governing trifecta.
