Trump Boasts of His Construction Skills in Latest Rant: ‘I’m Very Good at Flagpoles!’

President Donald Trump bragged on Wednesday, “I’m very good at flagpoles!” during what CNN described as an “impromptu tour of his various White House construction projects.”

CNN’s Kasie Hunt reported on the moment during Wednesday’s edition of The Arena, explaining, “The president’s schedule initially said he was participating in a policy meeting during that time. Instead, he spent 32 minutes… explaining in painstaking detail the changes that he’s bringing to the People’s House.”

While the CNN segment is a supercut of the event, the full clip shows Trump citing a 2025 donation of his, which he described on Truth Social at the time as “two beautiful Flag Poles on both sides of the White House.”

“As you remember, I donated the flagpoles,” Trump said. “One on each side, ’cause the White House really didn’t have an appropriate American flag. It had a small one on top. We left that.”

Going into more detail, the president added, “This is a great pole. This is a top-of-the-line — it’s tapered. This isn’t a straight up-and-down job, which looks terrible, frankly. It’s a tapered pole, great — I’m very good at flagpoles!”

Trump additionally mentioned his controversial new White House ballroom, which has become the subject of a legal battle that has reached the Supreme Court. The Trump administration filed an emergency petition with the high court last week after a 2-1 D.C. Circuit ruling said construction could not continue without congressional approval. The administration has argued that Trump already has the authority to build the ballroom and that halting work on the roughly two-thirds-complete project would pose a national security threat. Unless the Supreme Court intervenes, construction is set to stop on Aug. 21.

Trump admitted Wednesday, though, that he “can’t imagine” that the court will rule against him, dismissing the suit that threatened the project in the first place as coming from someone who “didn’t like the view.”
