‘Very Angry and Very Loud’: Jewish Student Describes Being Barricaded Inside Library During Pro-Palestinian Rally

A Jewish student who barricaded inside a college library during an angry pro-Palestinian rally described the ordeal to Fox News Thursday.

Taylor Rosalind told Martha MacCallum that the rally on the campus of Cooper Union College in Manhattan began peacefully enough.

“Well, it was just a regular protest for the first couple of hours with people on different sides,” Rosalind began. “Just holding up posters and chanting what they wanted to say. But after that, once I felt like the protest was over, a group of religious Jewish Cooper Union students ended up in the library when the rally decided to try and get into the library as well. Very angry and very loud. The school barricaded the library doors and locked us in there along with some other students to keep us safe from the rally that they allowed to enter into the building.”

Rosalind added that she felt the administration “should be doing something” to keep students safe.

MacCallum asked about an anti-semitic poster held over the head of one protester that she described at the top of the show.

“It says, ‘Please keep the world clean’ with a Star of David and the colors of the Israeli flag apparently in a trash can is the image that you see there.”

MacCallum asked Rosalind,  “What goes through your mind when you see this? You know, where is this coming from?”

“Personally, I don’t feel threatened by pro-Palestinian rallies or anything in that sense. Everyone has their own right to be doing that. But I definitely did feel threatened when there were chants calling for the murder of Jews being chanted at me from my fellow students,” Rosalind said, adding that she never felt such division on campus until after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

Rosalind finished by saying the rallying students may not have been fully educated on the Hamas-Israel war.

“I can definitely say that many people holding posters did not actually know what those posters were implying,” she said.
