It began on Twitter, with some tweets by USA Today‘s Christine Brennan, and has continued on the web and TV. Last night, Jane Velez-Mitchell asked the question “Is Erin To Blame?” And then she answered it – of course not.
With Inside Edition reporter Lisa Guerrero as a guest, Velez-Mitchell unleashed on Brennan’s comments.
What Brennan tweeted: “Women sports journalists need to be smart and not play to the frat house. There are tons of nuts out there…Erin Andrews incident is bad, but to add perspective: there are 100s of women sports journalists who have never had this happen to them.”
She’s since recanted, now saying: “For those who think I am against Erin, nothing could be further from the truth. What happened to her is terrible, and she will always have my full support.”
But the ‘women attacking women’ storyline was picked up by Velez-Mitchell, and adds a new angle to a story not likely to go away in the press.
Thanks to Jennifer from Detroit for passing this along.
