The Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles fans have conflicting accounts of what led to Bills defensive end Shaq Lawson shoving a fan during Sunday’s game.

After the Eagles’ overtime win against the Bills, videos began circulating the internet showing an altercation between several Bills players and the Eagles fans sitting behind their sideline. Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips approached a fan and the two started jawing at one another. Then, Lawson joined the argument and shoved the fan back before security intervened.

Both Lawson and Phillips later claimed on Instagram that a fan repeatedly made threats to their families. Despite their requests, Lawson said, security did not remove the fan.

Since then, however, more videos have surfaced online that Eagles fans believe disprove those claims.

In one, a man who supposedly attended the game gave his version of what went down. He claimed he sat just a few feet away from the fan who was shoved and said there were never any threats directed toward the players.

“He didn’t say nothing,” the man said in a TikTok video. “He laughed at [Phillips] after Jalen [Hurts] scored the first touchdown. He called him soft. He told him we were gonna do it all game; and I know that because I was two people to the right of him on those bleachers.

“The whole game, Jordan Phillips was at this dude’s throat, essentially. Screaming over to him every time there was a turnover or a good play for them. Told him he was gonna beat his ass. Called him a pussy. Jordan was screaming at the security guard to get him kicked out; and that Bills staffer that’s in that original video came over three times to where we were sitting. It was extremely unprofessional. Pretty soft. And that statement you released today, Jordan Phillips, was a lie.”

Several other videos show the players and fans yelling at one another throughout the game. At some point, Phillips could be seen screaming at a security guard and demanding them to “do your fucking job” while motioning toward the fans.

While it’s clear Phillips was upset about something, it hasn’t been confirmed what made him so angry. He claims the fans made it personal, while the fans claim he simply let trash talk get under his skin.

The Bills are looking into the incident.
