Pat McAfee Tries to Connect MLK Day With Him Being ‘Canceled by Both Parties’ Last Week Following Aaron Rodgers Controversy

While sharing some words about Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Pat McAfee suddenly pivoted to him being “canceled by both parties” last week.

The Pat McAfee Show came under fire after a series of controversial appearances by Aaron Rodgers. The New York Jets quarterback implied Jimmy Kimmel would be on a list of clients of late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Following a week of backlash, Rodgers reappeared and blamed the media for misinterpreting his comments.

A significant amount of that backlash was also directed at McAfee for giving Rodgers a platform.

When McAfee acknowledged that Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, he noted that society was “more close than we’ve ever been.”

“And there’s an election about to take place next year where we need to remember that we are more close than we’ve ever been,” McAfee said, “and people could potentially try to drive us apart from the outside looking in.

“Now, as somebody who was canceled by both parties last week — both of them canceled me — thank you. Two political parties canceled me last week. We are still alive. Let’s remember we don’t need all the outside noise. All we need is a little bit of love, which is what we have for all of the people that have good intentions every single day whenever they wake up just like us.”
