Ana Navarro Rips Trump-Putin Call: GOP Used to Be Against ‘Cozying Up to Dictators’

On CNN tonight, Ana Navarro went off on Republicans for not being more vocal in condemning President Trump‘s congratulatory phone call with Vladimir Putin.

John McCain expressed his outrage today, and Sarah Sanders responded by insisting that the Trump administration is being plenty tough on Russia.

But she also hesitated when confronted over whether she would categorize the Russian election as free and fair, something that another McCain took serious issue with:

On CNN tonight, Don Lemon was discussing the rather astonishing revelation that the President was given a “DO NOT CONGRATULATE” message by his advisers.

And after one guest denounced the leaks of confidential material, Navarro said this:

“I remember when Republicans used to be against us cozying up to dictators of this kind. I found it appalling when Barack Obama went to Cuba and legitimized Raul Castro. I found it appalling when Jimmy Carter and his foundation went to Nicaragua and legitimized the fraudulent election of Daniel Ortega. And I don’t care if he’s a Republican or he’s pretending to be, I find it equally appalling to see now Donald Trump legitimizing a fraudulent election in Russia by a dictator who’s been poisoning people on the soil of our biggest ally.”

She said she’s also appalled by the “relative silence” in the Republican party––except for McCain––saying the same.
