Ben Shapiro on Being Banned from DePaul: ‘They’re Equating Words with Violence’
Conservative pundit Ben Shapiro was informed he wouldn’t be permitted to speak at DePaul University, and tonight he appeared on Fox News to explain what’s really going on here.
He told Megyn Kelly the official explanation is that it’s not about his views, but about “security concerns” given how violence broke out when he appeared elsewhere.
Shapiro said the implication is “they can’t keep their own students from assaulting people” so they’re basically just going to invoke the “rioters’ veto” to keep anyone they don’t like from speaking.
He declared that they are clearly “equating words with violence” and that creates incentives for students to gin up violence in order to keep others from speaking.
