‘Beyond The Human Capacity To Digest’: Blinken Describes Gruesome Details Of Hamas Gunmen Slaughtering Israeli Families
Secretary of State Antony Blinken described the disturbing details from the footage he saw of Hamas militants slaughtering Israeli families during a televised press conference in Israel.
Back in October, Hamas launched a surprise attack against Israel, killing approximately 1,400 people and capturing over 200 hostages. Violence and cruelty to innocent civilians from the militant group has been well-documented and Israel released some of the footage to the public this week amid a growing denialism on social media that the atrocities took place.
On Friday, Blinken visited Israel for the fourth time since the October 7th attack and met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reiterating the US commitment to its Middle Eastern ally. He noted the administration is working with Congress to pass an aid package for Israel’s defense capabilities.
The secretary of state then claimed Israel has a right to self-defense and highlighted that the “slaughter of innocents” should never be tolerated by the world.
BLINKEN: Today, we saw additional images, additional footage collected by the Israeli government from video cameras. Some the terrorist, some others in communities that were attacked. It remains almost beyond the human capacity to process, to digest. I saw, for example, a family on a kibbutz, a father, two young boys, maybe ten or 11 years old, grabbing them, pulling them out of their living room, going through their very small backyard and into a shelter, followed seconds later by a terrorist who throws a grenade into that small shelter.
And then as the father comes staggering out, shoots him down, and then the boys come out and they run into into their house and the camera in the house is filming everything and they’re crying, Where’s Daddy? One says. The other says, They killed daddy, Where’s my mommy? And then the terrorist comes in and casually opens the refrigerator and starts to eat from it. That’s what we’re dealing with. And it is striking and in some ways shocking that the brutality of the slaughter has receded so quickly in the memories of so many, but not in Israel and not in America.
