Fox News’ Howard Kurtz: Jeff Flake ‘Undermined His Argument’ Against Trump With Stalin Comparison
Fox News’ Howard Kurtz briefly reacted to Senator Jeff Flake‘s speech on President Trump and the press by pointing to how he “undermined” his argument.
Flake railed against Trump’s attacks on the media today, listed the President’s own biggest lies, and even compared Trump’s use of “enemy of the people” to Stalin’s.
Kurtz said, “Jeff Flake, who apparently plans to spend the rest of his remaining months in office attacking Donald Trump, I thought undermined his argument in two key respects.”
The first was making it a “broadside attack on the President,” but the second was that Stalin comparison:
“He likened Donald Trump’s language on the media to that of Stalin. And while I thought the President went too far early in his term in calling the media the enemy of the American people, to compare President Trump with a mass murderer in the Soviet Union I just think goes way too far and kind of invalidates––at least partially invalidates what the senator was trying to say.”
RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel also expressed that Flake went too far with that line today:
Sen. Flake, turn on the news. It’s wall-to-wall with biased coverage against @POTUS. He has every right to push back. Comparing the leader of the free world to murderous dictators is absurd. You’ve gone too far.
