GOP Rep. Compares Planned Parenthood Fight to Fight Against Slavery

Republican Congressman Trent Franks today compared the current fight against Planned Parenthood to when Americans fought years ago to end slavery.

Franks was on MSNBC talking about the hearing on Capitol Hill today in which Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards got a grilling from Republicans about those controversial videos of individuals talking about harvesting fetal tissue.

Franks said, “The last issue that tore us apart like this was slavery.”

“It was the same argument,” he explained. “Those that were for slavery said, ‘Well, there’s not really a personhood here, there’s no person involved here.’ The Supreme Court said the same thing, just like they did in Roe v. Wade.”
