Jon Karl Mocks Nikki Haley Over ‘Passive’ Jabs at Trump: Does Chaos Follow Him ‘Or Does He Create’ It?

ABC News’ Jon Karl confronted Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley over her tepid criticisms of Donald Trump, challenging her to say whether the former president is responsible for the “chaos” that always surrounds him.

Karl interviewed Haley as she sat alongside New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, who just endorsed her 2024 campaign. As Haley touted her polling against President Joe Biden while calling for a new generation of leadership, she told Karl of how “I agreed with a lot of Trump’s policies. I think he was the right president at the right time. But looking at the situation now, our country is in disarray, the world is on fire and chaos follows him. And we can’t have a country in chaos for four more years, or we won’t survive it.”

For weeks, Haley has run with the phrasing that chaos “follows” Trump, and therefore, the former president’s leadership will be ineffectual if he’s re-elected to the White House. Karl picked up on that by pressing Haley on the fact that saying chaos “follows” Trump fails to assign him any blame for his own situation.

“I hear you say that a lot, ‘chaos follows him,'” Karl said. “But is it chaos follows him, or does he create the chaos? I mean, that sounds so passive.”

“You call it whatever you want to call it,” Haley answered, “but when you feel it, it’s chaos. When I tell these rooms that, they all nod their head, they get it. It’s the chaos, and Americans are tired. They want government to work for them again, and they want to win.”
