Larry Nassar Speaks Before Sentencing: Accuser’s Words Have ‘Shaken Me to My Core’
— CBS News (@CBSNews) January 24, 2018
As Larry Nassar appeared for his sentencing hearing today, the disgraced U.S. Olympic doctor offered a statement of remorse to over 100 women who have accused him of sexually abusing them over the years:
“Your words these past several days, your words, have had a significant and emotional effect on myself, and have shaken me to my core. I also recognize that what I am feeling pales in comparison to the pain, trauma and emotional destruction to all abused. There are no words that can describe the depth and breadth of how sorry I am for what has occurred. An acceptable apology to all of you is impossible to write and convey. I will carry your words with me for the rest of my days”
Judge Rosemarie Aquilina followed Nassar’s statement with a powerful speech of her own, where she declared, “It stops now. Speak out like these survivors.”
