Last night, Breitbart-backed culture warrior Roy Moore defeated party establishment favorite — and Trump-endorsed (until late Monday night) — Luther Strange in Alabama’s GOP Senate primary, setting the stage for the controversial former judge to take over the Senate seat previously occupied by Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
With Moore’s long list of inflammatory actions and comments now creating an uncomfortable situation for Washington Republicans, MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace lashed out at GOP leaders and politicians, asking who would stand up and publicly state that they aren’t going support Moore.
“I guess the question is,” Wallace said to columnist John Podhoretz during a panel discussion. “Is anyone in the Senate, any Republicans going to say, ‘I don’t want to be in the same party as Roy Moore. I’m not endorsing him or backing him because that could save the Republican’ — you may lose a seat but you might save the Republican Party.”
After Podhoretz stated that GOPers just won’t talk about him and that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already said he’ll try to get Moore elected, Wallace noted that McConnell will end up regretting that.
“He’s going to do that and Roy Moore is going to help run a coup to get him out of his seat and, Mitch McConnell, you’ll deserve it!” Wallace passionately exclaimed.
Before tossing it to break, the MSNBC host spoke to panelist Glenn Thrush, stating that this topic get her “all riled up.”
