Robert De Niro Gets Rapturous Standing Ovation at Tony’s After Declaring ‘F*ck Trump!’
Robert De Niro stunned the Tony Awards on Sunday night by opening his comments with a simple outburst: “It’s no longer ‘Down with Trump,’ it’s ‘Fuck Trump!'”
“I’m going to say this — fuck Trump!” the actor exclaimed at the famed Broadway award ceremony. “It’s no longer ‘Down with Trump,’ it’s Fuck Trump!”
The comment received rapturous applause and a standing ovation from the crowd, as De Niro raised his fists in the air triumphantly.
It’s hard to tell from the video above, via CBS, because an overzealous production crew completely bleeped out his entire comments, but thanks to reporters present in the audience paired with some ample lip-reading, the actor’s message is clear enough.
For those watching at home, De Niro said, “I’m going to say this — FUCK TRUMP. It’s no longer ‘Down with Trump,’ it’s FUCK TRUMP.’ ” #TonyAwards

De Niro: “FUCK TRUMP!” Standing O. Repeats it! TV production people wearing headsets are staring at each other with mouths agape. Amazing live TV moment.
