Rosie O’Donnell: Brian Williams Lied Like Lance Armstrong

The ladies of The View addressed the controversy surrounding NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams‘s admission that his helicopter in Iraq was not actually shot down by an RPG while covering the war in 2003. Co-host Rosie O’Donnell went as far as to say that Williams’s fabrication was so “blatant” it could be compared to that of Lance Armstrong, who famously lied about doping during his seven consecutive Tour de France cycling championships.

“I think you would know if you were in a helicopter that was actually hit by a missile,” O’Donnell said. “So I don’t think he didn’t remember that — I think he fabricated that story, and the apology seemed a little oddly circuitous.”

She added it was a “blatant lie,” and a “Lance Armstrong lie.” Whoopi Goldberg disagreed, saying she understands how something like this could happen: “I’m not perfect, I don’t remember everything, and I make stuff up sometimes.”

Current and former anchors have come out in defense of Williams, but others have called on NBC to fire him.
