Scarborough Says Hope Hicks Has to ‘Get Ready For Trial’ and Mueller: ‘Things Could Get Ugly’
Morning Joe reacted on Thursday to the stunning resignation of Hope Hicks, the White House communications director who had found herself dogged by public scandal in recent months.
Though has Hicks faced scrutiny since last month for her relationship with Rob Porter, the White House aide ousted after his wife-beating past was revealed, her resignation appears to have had a different catalyst: it came the day after she testified that she told “white lies” for President Donald Trump before the House Intelligence Committee.
According to Joe Scarborough’s analysis, however, the more concerning problem for Hicks should be special counsel Robert Mueller’s apparently accelerating investigation into the Trump campaign’s Russia ties.
“It also comes at a time when the Mueller investigation is really starting to pick up,” the MSNBC host noted. “Bob Mueller’s not nibbling around the edges anymore, he’s going straight in and asking the questions.”
“Things are about to get pretty ugly inside the White House and the question is for somebody like Hope Hicks, why did you stay that long?”
“Hope Hicks also of course involved in that Air Force One meeting, the drafting of the memo,” Scarborough continued. “She was just sort of a courier, but at the same time, I mean, she’s got to get ready for Mueller. She’s got to get ready for a trial. I mean, it’s — things could get ugly.”
