Trump Says FOUR Times He Has The Votes on Health Care (He Does Not)

Once again, President Trump seems to be refusing to admit the fact that the latest effort by the GOP to repeal the Affordable Care Act is dead.

Ever since the failure of Graham-Cassidy, Trump has insisted that the reform bill has enough support to pass, even though the Senate decided not to vote on it this week because the opposite is true. As Trump spoke to Fox New’s Pete Hegseth about his tax reform speech yesterday, the president once again refuted the notion that health care reform has seen another setback.

“The health care bill didn’t go down. We have the votes. Reconciliation is a disaster but as you know it ends on Friday. We don’t have enough time. We have one senator [Thad Cochran], a yes vote, great person, but he’s in the hospital. We can’t do it by Friday. We have the votes. We will do it some time at the beginning of the year, but prior to the election in November.”

Trump said he still has confidence in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell before going on to trash the Senate’s 60 vote filibuster rule (Graham-Cassidy wasn’t even on track to reach a 50 vote simple majority). Trump went on to insist at least three more times that there are actually enough votes to get a health care bill through.
