Watch Fox Nation Fans Light Up ‘Irritating’ Shepard Smith at Network’s Summit: ‘He’s a Democrat’
Fox News fans attending the inaugural summit for the subscription-based outlet Fox Nation attacked Shepard Smith and other straight news or liberal hosts on the network.
Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple visited the Fox Nation summit in Scottsdale, AZ last week and interviewed some of the network’s most dedicated fans, during which he asked the crowd which hosts they prefer and which they don’t.
“[Smith’s] voice is so irritating, I have to turn it off,” a Tucson, Arizona woman told Wemple after he asked for her thoughts on the 3 p.m. timeslot host.
“He’s a Democrat,” another man said when asked why he disapproves of Smith’s presence on Fox News.
A third Fox Nation subscriber explained the option of a Fox News digital streaming service allows him to cut out the straight news or progressive opinions expressed by hosts like Smith or The Five‘s one left-leaning voice Juan Williams.
“I’ll tell you right off the bat: There’s no … what’s her name from the Democratic Party? There are no liberals. We don’t have the equal balanced stuff,” the Fox Nation fan said.
As can be expected, Fox News primetime hosts like Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Laura Ingraham all received glowing praise from the Fox Nation fans.
Per a release about the event, fans attending the summit had “an opportunity to pitch programming ideas to FOX Nation producers for a chance to win a trip to New York City and film a pilot production of their show.” They also got to see hosts like Pete Hegseth and Abby Hornacek speak in person.
