WATCH: HLN Panelist Storms Out During Fiery Segment on SCOTUS, ‘Christian Sharia’

An HLN segment on the Supreme Court got heated between CRTV host Steve Deace and SiriusXM host Dean Obeidallah––ending with Deace walking out mid-segment.

During a discussion on the Supreme Court and moral issues, Deace said, “We need more debate, we need more things decided at the election booth, we need more things determined in the hall of Congress and not at administrative agencies. We need more things determined by voters and not black-robed masters who don’t face accountability to the American people.”

Obeidallah, who also contributes to Mediaite, said the stakes are high now regarding the upcoming SCOTUS battle, arguing, “There are people on the right who want to impose Christian sharia law in this country… They want to turn the Bible into the law of this land.”

He called out Republicans like Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum for comments they and others have made “who want to turn America into the Christian version of Saudi Arabia”

When the conversation came back to Deace, he called out anchor Carol Costello for not pushing back on Obeidallah’s claim of “Christian sharia.”

“That’s just a preposterous statement,” he said. “I can play this game too… We can go back and forth with our quips and our trolls, nothing gets accomplished.”

Obeidallah stood by his comments and said, “Sharia in this context is simply shorthand for turning religious beliefs into the laws of the land. That’s what they’re about.”

As Obeidallah continued to defend his remarks, Deace walked out.
