WATCH: Outnumbered Bashes Press For ‘Laying Responsibility’ For Khashoggi’s Disappearance on Trump’s Media Taunts
Eric Trump was the #OneLuckyGuy on Friday’s panel for Fox News’ Outnumbered, and, because it’s almost obligatory at this point, they spent some quality time trashing the media’s Trump criticism.
The discussed the ongoing intrigue for Saudi Arabia’s alleged involvement in Jamal Khashoggi‘s suspicious disappearance. President Donald Trump cried “fake news” recently about having financial interests with the Saudis despite previous boasts to the contrary. His son used a portion of the segment to insist that the family’s business empire has no substantial connection to the Saudis.
Eventually, Dagen McDowell took the conversation in a new direction by addressing how other media outlets are talking about Khashoggi today.
“Here’s another narrative that’s developing on other news channels: linking Khashoggi’s murder to the president’s rhetoric about journalism and fake news, they are trying to link the two…essentially laying responsibility on the president’s shoulders.
Note that McDowell declined to say anything about the fact that this “narrative” was prompted by the fact that Trump complimented Rep. Greg Gianforte (R-MT) multiple times at a rally last night precisely because the congressman once physically assaulted a reporter.
In any case, the Trump scion took the softball he was given and responded by invoking former Attorney General Eric Holder and leftist violence. When asked if his father has a responsibility to do more to say that America will not tolerate violence towards reporters, Trump brought the conversation back to Saudi Arabia, saying America shouldn’t break its alliance with them over Khashoggi, and the royal family is already being punished because of how much money their country is losing amid the international outrage.
Later in the show, Trump would go on to excuse his father on the grounds that “he can have fun” and is not a typical politician.
