‘We Might As Well Call Him President Abbott,’ Says Newsmax Host About Texas Governor Amid Border Standoff
Newsmax host Chris Salcedo praised Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s handling of the ongoing border standoff on Thursday, declaring, “We might as well call him President Abbott.”
On Newsmax’s Chris Salcedo Show, Salcedo said, “You all know how from California to New York, left-wing bastions can openly violate U.S. immigration law with no penalty, but states and areas that do not accept lawbreaking are prosecuted and harassed. The governor of Texas has succinctly and powerfully defined what all of this means. We might as well call him President Abbott.”
He continued:
That’s a reality check we provide in today’s preamble. The number one job of the president of the United States is to protect our people, but Joe Biden under the direction of Barack Obama and his minions has become the second occupier of the Oval Office to abdicate that duty. I can point to the deadly consequences of his foreign policy, the deadly consequences of the Democrats’ pro-criminal policies, but the most poignant example I can show you is the border and the Biden regime’s promotion of massive, record-breaking, deadly illegal immigration, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott clearly defined the affliction we all suffer in a statement he released yesterday.
After reading Abbott’s viral statement, Salcedo said, “Joe Biden and the Democrat Party and their apparatchiks in the leviathan we call a federal government have, quote, ‘broken the compact between the United States and the states.'”
He concluded, “That compact is the Constitution, our mutual handshake as citizens. An oath that the left wing has been trying to break for decades, since the last time they broke it during the Civil War.”
