Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been formally offered the role of iconic fictional British spy James Bond, succeeding Daniel Craig.

Sources close to the production revealed that an offer has been laid out for Taylor-Johnson, signalling the beginning of a new era. With filming for the 26th Bond film expected to kick off later this year, anticipation is mounting over the official announcement of Craig’s replacement.

Taylor-Johnson, known for his roles in Kick-Ass, Tenet, and Bullet Train, is said to be Eon Productions’ top choice. The actor won a Golden Globe for his work in Nocturnal Animals in 2016 and has most recently been involved in Kraven The Hunter, a Marvel superhero film.

“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back,” a source told The Sun. This casting move aligns with Bond co-producer Michael G. Wilson’s hint at a younger Bond, seeking an actor in his thirties.

Despite speculation involving other high-profile actors, including fellow British actors Tom Hardy and Idris Elba, Taylor-Johnson’s name has been in the mix from the beginning. His potential involvement gained further credibility following a secretive audition in late 2022.
