Welsh Armed Police Hunt Assailant After Knife Attack In Wales

Armed police are responding to a major incident near a school in Aberfan, South Wales, after reports of a stabbing. A 29-year-old pregnant woman has been taken to hospital following the incident, with the attacker still on the run.

Emergency services confirmed the situation, which began at approximately 9.10 am. As a result, several local schools have initiated lockdown procedures.

South Wales Police, in a statement, said: “Emergency services are responding to a serious assault that took place on Moy Road, Aberfan, Merthyr just before 9.10am this morning. Armed officers are in the area, and we request that people avoid the area so that we can effectively deal with this incident.”

Trinity Childcare and Family Centre in Aberfan also confirmed their lockdown, reassuring that “all staff and children are safe.”

Gerald Jones, MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, has been in contact with the police and urges public cooperation, noting an increased police presence in the area.
