A Scientist Claims He’s Invented Hangover-Free Booze
Being hung over is truly horrendous. You’re depressed, you’re sick, and the worst part is, you know you’ve done it to yourself. You also know you’re probably going to do it again. Everyone also has their own way of getting rid of a hangover. People swear by their remedies, whether it be coffee, exercise, fried food, spicy food, or what have you.
This scientist says the best way to beat a hangover is to not get one at all. Professor David Nutt, who teaches at London’s Imperial College has invented “alcosynth,” a synthetic substance that gets you drunk, but without the liver damage and without the hangover.
The Independent reports that Nutt has invented over 90 versions of alcosynth and two of them are being tested for the public, and he believes that by 2050, everyone will be drinking the stuff in lieu of regular alcohol. He said, “It will be there alongside the scotch and the gin, they’ll dispense the alcosynth into your cocktail and then you’ll have the pleasure without damaging your liver and your heart.”
He said that the alcosynth goes very well in mojitos but can also be used in clear drinks, like a Tom Collins. “One s pretty tasteless, the other has a bitter taste.”
One of the best claims bout alcosynth: you’re probably not going to do too many things you regret after drinking it, because the effects have a ceiling. “We think the effects round out at about four or five ‘drinks’, then the effect would max out,” Nutt said.
Nutt claims that this has been a long time coming. “They know that and have been planning for this for at least 10 years. But they don’t want to rush into it, because they’re making so much money from conventional alcohol.” It also costs a lot of money to do the necessary research before bringing alcosynth to market, which means it will probably be a while before you can buy the stuff for yourself or order it at a restaurant.
