Biz News All-Stars? Sports Mixes With Business At FBN This Week

We’ve written before about the connection between sports and business at Fox Business Network, and this week has been no exception.

But besides interviews and segments, FOX used a golden marketing opportunity in the minutes before the MLB All-Star game to promote its new FBN stars.

The FBN “All-Star Update” began with Liz Claman, who has taken a more central role as one of the main voices of Fox Business Network, especially since Alexis Glick left. After a brief update, she introduced the two new faces of FBN – Gerri Willis and Eric Bolling.

Willis, who “bats lead-off” for FBN’s post-market coverage at 5pmET says she is “all over how the big stories of the day are affecting your lives.” Bolling, the “clean-up hitter” describes his program as “unapologetically pro-capitalism.”

Bolling, who spends the entire promo holding a baseball bat, has conducted several sports interviews on his 8pmET Money Rocks this week as well, including with NFL star Chad Ochocinco and MLB Hall of Famer (and my favorite athlete ever) Cal Ripken, Jr..

The exposure in the New York market where the promo aired continues FBN’s recent marketing and advertising push. As the young network grows, it is opportunities like this that can help introduce it to a broader audience, and potentially keep the business viewers around as regulars.

Here’s the pre-All-Star game promo, and below, Bolling and Ochocinco on Money Rocks:

I find it amusing that the FBN advertisements don’t advertise their business news hours. I guess even FBN can admit their “real” biz coverage sucks.

I must say that I have watched Eric Bolling on Strategyroom live stream , and have heard him on The Price of Business with Kevin Price out of Houston Texas, and I must say that he is a very informative and knowledgeable man. I have watched the Money Rocks show since day one and find it a very informative and worthy show to add to you evening view. I truly think that FBN has a hit on it’s hands.

I do watch both FNC and FBN and always listen when Eric Bolling is on a segment. He has co hosted on the Glenn Beck show, O’Reilly, and Fox and Friends and Cavuto. Very easy on the eyes, and very informative with his information. He is in his element on this show, TRY IT!
