Carson Camp Unloads on Cruz’s Team: ‘Having Integrity Just Doesn’t Matter to Them’

Ted Cruz is catching it from all sides now. In addition to Donald Trump unleashing his #Trumpertantrum screed on Twitter and floating the threat of legal action, now Dr. Ben Carson is also taking aim at the Texas senator for his campaign’s shady behavior Monday night.

“We’ve been told all along that Cruz’s operatives play dirty and were capable of this stuff, but Dr. Carson never believed it, he felt like they had a respectable operation,” Carson campaign advisor Armstrong Williams told The Hill. “Now we see firsthand that having integrity just doesn’t matter to them. It’s about honor and character, either you have it or you don’t.”

Williams added that Cruz was “running without honor or integrity, and this shows he’s just like everyone else inside the Beltway.”

Cruz’s campaign spread rumors that Carson was dropping out of the presidential race before the Iowa caucuses were closed Monday night. The campaign has since (falsely) claimed that their information came from CNN. On Tuesday night, Carson said that Cruz had apologized to him personally, though he was still incensed that Cruz’s campaign allowed such “dishonesty” to take place, and wished to see the staffers responsible punished.
