Congressman Joe Walsh Suggests Dow Is Up 300 Points Due To Barney Frank Retirement

Following news that Congressman Barney Frank would be retiring after 30 years of service in the US House of Representatives, Illinois Representative Joe Walsh sent out a classy farewell letter snarky tweet saying “Today Rep. Barney Frank announced he will not run for re-election & the Dow is up by almost 300 points. Coincidence?”

Earlier this month, the hot-headed Congressman made headlines when he went off on a constituent, calling her comments “crap” that “pisses me off”. His cutting tweet aimed at Frank will only solidify his reputation as a political bomb thrower.

Sadly for Walsh, the market was already way up when the Frank news broke. However, since facts are not really in Walsh’s wheelhouse, this is OK. Maybe he can yell at some constituents about it.

So far 17 Dems to retire (voluntarily).  More to follow.

But, not Conyers (46 year rep.), Waxman (34 years), Rangel (31 years) or good grief, Dingell ( 56 year government tick).

the guy’s an idiot, but it sounded like a joke.   EVERYONE knows the Dow is up because it looks like the Europe debt crisis is being controlled AND the black friday retail numbers were solid.

we get it, mediaite hates the republicans.  No need for the constant reminders.

Maybe this moron should spend a bit more time cleaning his own house before he starts throwing rocks at others.

  • Anonymous

Somehow this might have been funnier coming from someone else

I like Walsh as a whole, but there is one thing I don’t agree with and that’s his child support payments. Granted, I don’t know enough and sometimes when you get someone with power, you go after more money, but that’s the one particular item I don’t like about him.

    Otherwise, he’s solid.

CNBC was talking about Maxine taking over Barney’s spot.

    Oof.

  • Anonymous

On September 21, 2011 Rep. Joe Walsh announced he WILL run for re-election & the Dow is was DOWN by 283.74 points. Coincidence?

  • Anonymous

What rock did he throw? You make such wild assertions. It’s the oddest thing.

Someone else made a joke out of this and he did the same thing. Big deal.

Joe Walsh is such a stupid brainless idiot.  He is the quintessential front person for tea bagger stupidity.  I have to wander what this fake conservative dead beat dad will use as a reason for when the DOW back down another 300 point.  One thing is for sure and that is the fact that it won’t the the facts or the truth.

  • Anonymous

I as many others in the twitter-verse tweeted that line as a joke. Perhaps the “joke” part went over his head as did the headlines that fueled the rally, apparently

  • Anonymous

Joe Walsh’s kids received a 300% surge in nourishment after he made good on his past due child support payments.  (Note:  This is a joke, he has still not paid up.)

  • Anonymous

Actually, Drudge did the same thing. Seriously.

Are you kidding? Really? Please take your medication

  • Anonymous

Get to it TP’ers, here’s your candidate

  • Anonymous

    You forgot a period. :)

  • Anonymous

The fact that you have a Twitter account says all that we need to know. :)

  • Anonymous

I think the Dow went up because Joe Walsh finally decided to pay his child support.

  • Anonymous

Well, there is the child support problem, but it appears he also has an anger problem.  Maybe he isn’t the whole person you think he is…or even solid.

  • Anonymous

Re-electing someone like Joe Walsh is a testament to the American stupidity!

  • Anonymous

Don’t we and his wife & kids especially wish he would!

  • Anonymous

If you’re in Congress and you’re not pissed, you’re not doing your job.

  • Anonymous

Unless his wife is taking government monies, we shouldn’t care about what he does.

  • Anonymous

You do know that a joke requires being funny in order for it to be a joke, right?

    You are no Gloves. :)

  • Anonymous

Liberals calling out someone else for “anger problems”?

    Bwahahahahaahahahaahahahahahaahahahahhahahaahhaahahahhaahahahhahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahah

  • Anonymous

Why even invoke Frank then? What was the point?

  • Anonymous

So did the former Mrs. Walsh, which is why he owes her so much money.

  • Anonymous

Lets see how “solid” he is next time around! Hate, obstruction and no answers are the mating call of the “teas”,.. sooo maybe he is “solid”!

  • Anonymous

She didn’t forget only one. Genius.

  • Anonymous

    A political joke. Duh.

Anyone who took that seriously needs to get their own head checked.

  • Anonymous

    ^ +1 !!!

  • Anonymous

You’re really capable of rationalizing anything, aren’t you?

No wonder you’re such a big Palin fan. It all starts to make sense.

  • Anonymous

I just happen to believe that a guy who’s a deadbeat dad with anger management issues ought to STFU before he starts criticizing others.

  • Anonymous

You are a true national treasure WC. I hope we never lose you to the job market.

  • Anonymous

Maybe Joe Walsh isn’t the only one with anger problems.  You seem a little testy to me!

  • Anonymous

So, yelling at your own constituents is OK?  I am glad I don’t really know you.  I don’t think I would really like you.  You are rather sour!

  • Anonymous

Congressman Joe Walsh Suggests Dow Is Up 300 Points Due To Barney Frank Retirement

…that’s the most rational explanation anybody has given for this latest sucker-rally.

  • Anonymous

C’mon WC, this was NOT a joke.  It was a dig, an insult, but not a joke!

  • Anonymous

And this should make a difference, why?

  • Anonymous

    ??????????????????

  • Anonymous

Yep, liberals are calling out Joe Walsh for anger problems, simply because he has them.  And anyone who won’t pay child support, whether it is a man or woman, is a bottom feeder.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tony.westover Tony Westover

It’s a pretty strong correlation that one of the men that had his hands in creating the moral hazard in the mortgage crisis is retiring because he thinks he’ll lose and the market shoots up 300 points.

  • Anonymous

    Gloves tells jokes?

  • Anonymous

Alright, then how do you explain the Dow plummeting 284 points on the day Walsh announced his re-election campaign? (which an earlier commenter pointed out)

  • Anonymous

Shows Walsh isn’t even original in the bad analysis.

  • Anonymous

Don’t worry. My resume is stellar. :)

  • Anonymous

You can rationalize Sullivan. That’s all sorts of crazy town.

  • Anonymous

Many members of Congress are permanently pissed and none of them are doing their jobs. At all. On either side.

  • Anonymous

And I think that someone who thinks that Sullivan is a sane person shouldn’t be allowed to political commentary, but that’s not reality is it? I believe in courts being able to handle situations. Sorry that you wish that weren’t the case.

  • Anonymous

Except that is started well before the Frank news as known. In fact, this “rally” started yesterday in the futures markets. Nice try, though.

  • Anonymous

I think that if the only news was that Barney the Pink Dinosaur had retired, the Dow would have gone up 1,000 points.

And Wall Street (and Main Street) would be covered in ticker-tape parades.

  • Anonymous

Re-electing someone like Nancy Pelosi or Barney Frank is a testament to the American stupidity!

There…much, much better. And true, too. So true.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_TWK2YYJTTIDLZIVV7NKZM23Z6Q Tyler

If I was Walsh I would take a low profile from now on.  You’re easy target for the libs in your district thanks to redistricting.

  • Anonymous

And what do you like most about him? The childish screams at his constituents or his complete ignorance of basic facts about reality?

  • Anonymous

Pissed at who exactly? Constituents? Or himself? because those are the only 2 sides to be pissed at.

  • Anonymous

Technically, there are at least four.

    Sanders is a Socialist
    Liebermann is an Independent
    R’s
    D’s

    Throw them all out. :)

  • Anonymous

His facts about the reality of this nation appear just fine to be thus far. He’s not my Congressman but I’m glad he’s yours since you care so much. :)

  • Anonymous

Correlation is not causation foolish person. The market is up because Europe fears are less and black Friday was a blowout for retailers.

  • Anonymous

The joke is not understanding it’s a joke.

  • Anonymous

Actually, analysts say that this is pretty normal and that no good news can come from this other than that there will be a stagnant and slow economy. It’s not especially good news.

  • Anonymous

If a man doesn’t support his kids he is a scumbag. Period.

  • Anonymous

    Is a joke.

  • Anonymous

We do if he is running for congress.

  • Anonymous

Barney ‘Boy Lollipop’ Frank is as snide, rude, condescending, and snarky as can be. He deserves to be bludgeoned by this truthful observation. You watch what happens to the market when OBAMO loses, lest anyone doubt the cause-and-effect here.

  • Anonymous

No. Litigation over children happens all of the time. If he doesn’t pay arrears then yes. If he has a legitimate criticism then no.

  • Anonymous

    C;mon gideon, be original!

  • Anonymous

WC, you are the joke.  You aren’t very logical!

  • Anonymous

    Whattttt?????

  • Anonymous

My, my gideon, you are tacky…and rather harsh!

  • Anonymous

Well, for Obama to lose, the Rethugs are going to have to get something better than the present lineup.  They are the best comedy of TV lately!

  • Anonymous

Wow…This is stupidity first hand. There are a bunch of Americans that are actually socialist and need to be represented just like u are from the Na…. I mean Republican Party and you are represented. If your guy should be pissed at someone it’s himself.

  • http://twitter.com/runforfun54 Ilene K

I was starting to get a little respect for you WCinWI2 – but you “like Walsh as a whole”?  Is it the Deadbeat Dad part? The “the President is a Liar” part? His anger issue?  WTF!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_IC7HRBJRXKA7IKTTZS5W3UIECQ Agent of Truth

I wonder what Walshes twisted logic will be when the Dow plunges 300 points tomorrow.  This loser is a total idiot and knows nothing about the forces that affect stock markets.  Walsh missed his true calling as a bus driver or pimp.
