Truth Or Fiction: Did 30 Rock Call Comcast A Porn Company?
Last week’s episode of 30 Rock featured a “truth is better than fiction” plot line that introduced the acquisition of NBC by a Philadelphia-based cable provider known as “Kabletown” (which parallels the real-life drama behind Comcast’s efforts to purchase the real-life television network.) Of course, 30 Rock is a fictional comedy whose writers consistently have Escher-esque fun with real-life influences and characters. But one has to wonder if the disparaging depiction of the cable provider’s revenue dependence on pay-per-view pornography isn’t a real-life concern in the halls of NBC HQ.
In the following clip, Alec Baldwin‘s character Jack Donaghy meets with a former NBC colleague who is now at Kabletown, who is all to eager to alleviate Donaghy’s fears for being laid off. The reason why their revenue goals are set for the future? The profits of smut pedding…
