First Look: Julianne Moore As Sarah Palin In Game Change

If you didn’t think Julianne Moore could be a convincing Sarah Palin, check out the photo. Not too bad. A photo released by the producers of the upcoming HBO film Game Change shows Moore in a Palinesque outfit, with the trademark glasses and updo. The Hollywood Reporter posted the photo Wednesday, and says production on the film begins today.

According to THR, the film’s “directed by Jay Roach and written by Danny Strong. Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are executive producers. Ed Harris plays John McCain in the film, which follows the Arizona U.S. Senator’s failed 2008 Republican presidential bid. Woody Harrelson plays Steve Schmidt, McCain’s senior adviser. Temple Grandin’s Melissa Farman will play Bristol Palin, The Hollywood Reporter first reported Tuesday.”

    Who gives a crap?

Who’s gonna watch this movie? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sorry – but I don’t have HBO and the people that already do, probably already wouldn’t vote for her.

That said, Moore as Palin? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Too bad Sarah Palin can’t be a convincing Sarah Palin.

    Only liberals watch HBO?

The Cracker next door watched every issue of “Big Love”.

She really looks like Palin. Maybe she can rejuvenate her career playing Palin. I hope there is some soft porn in the movie.

  • skyfet

I like Julian Moore but acting as Sarah is just not my cup of tea.

Showtime is giving HBO a run for it’s money nowadays (DEXTER!), but the book was pretty popular and I think people will be interested in the representation of famous politicians (see Primary Colors). I’m sure Hollywood will be fair. ;)
And how do you pan over? I want to see what she’s pointing at.

“Cracker”. It seems it’s acceptable to hurl certain epithets, depending on the color of the one it’s being hurled at.

    Racist.

So the movie is only going to cover the McCain campaign? That’s disappointing because the most interesting parts of the book were the bits about both parties’ primary races, particularly the machinations of John Edwards.

Did you legitimately think they would cover that? It is only ever going to be about Palin. Hollyweird is nuts.

So, was “The Kids Are All Right” soft? I suppose it was, but it certainly made me uncomfortable.

No. He’s a good friend. The families even vacation together from time-to-time. I call him a Cracker to his face. He is one. He calls me a Pink-o. He’s not entirely wrong.

“Game Change” will flop because of poor casting. Julianne Moore is way too old and not nearly pretty enough to portray Sarah Palin; and the unknown Melissa Farman looks pitiful compared to buxom, beautiful Bristol the Pistol.

By your reasoning Mr. Joyella, anyone who can put on a wig and glasses ‘looks’ like Sarah Palin. The fact is, she looks nothing like Sarah Palin. Neither she nor Tina Fey have an ounce of Palin’s inner glow (which shines through) and makes her truly beautiful. They are like a one dimensional drawing compared to Sarah’s 3-D masterpiece.

  • Jackyboy

It’s not bad. Not as good as Fey’s but not bad.

  • Harry Flashman

Moore is one of the most under rated actresses out there. I like her work. That being said, let’s see how she does in this part.

Anybody can put on a red jacket and put a wig on. Let’s see if she can fill Palin’s shoes for the part or if she’s just another lame imitator, ala Tina Fey.

  • Quite the Pundint

Oh she’s way hotter than Tina “Feh”.

Really? Make me puke next time. She’s a masterpiece like a sludge of Play-Doh in the hands of a one-year old child.

No, that was too explicit. I like the old movies where the saxophone starts playing and they cut away before the actual deed. I am, after all, a conservative.

i do have hbo and have already voted for palin once… i will again if she runs and secures the nomination, so i must take issue with your broad brush… while this is the same production team that trashed katherine harris in “recount”, as a conservative i find hbo’s programming quite stellar, especially compared to the crap that passes for entertainment on broadcast tv…

That’s fine, but the book didn’t like Palin at all so that’s going to be reflected in the HBO movie.

That said, no one is going to watch it that wouldn’t already vote for her or someone who wouldn’t vote for her. I don’t see this movie as a positive.

It would’ve been interesting with the Edwards storyline – otherwise eh.

They were going to cast the part of Keith Olbermann, but they wouldn’t give Manson a furlough.

In fairness to Mark, I am sure getting a snow shovel to apply great mounds of make-up would also be required.

It is kinda like Gwyneth Paltrow putting on the fat suit in Shallow Hal, or more approporiately Charlize Theron in her role in "Monster", but I am sure that Moore will bring Palin to life in a way that Palin never could…and look better doing it. I bet Sarah goes bulimic when she sees the end result.

    Poor Todd.

  • “Real” American

I’ll get the hang of this yet…

I got HBO for free for a couple of months, and I watched very little of it. I did catch a couple of episodes of Bill Maher’s show, however, and decided that I certainly would not pay for a network that allows his garbage on the air.

This photograph only serves to illustrate just how gorgeous Sarah Palin is. When an attractive actress like Julianne Moore looks like chopped liver by comparison, the original must be pretty stunning.

At least Julianne doesn’t have saggy chipmunk cheeks like the Hillbilly with the Hairdo.

Have you ever been to a PTA meeting and seen some ambitious, attractive older woman who you secretly thought needed a good shag ? Me neither.

One of the few cases where the actual person is way better looking than the actor portraying them.

What’s the difference between Sarah Palin’s mouth and her vagina? Only 20% of what comes out of her vagina is retarded.

Hmm…I sort of remember it, but just barely.

But it’s not surprising that one Palin cover would fade in memory given that both Newsweek AND Time — from the day he announced he was running, right up through his entire time in office to date — have spent week after week running “kiss ass” airbrushed photos of Obama as much as they can.
