#IStandWithAhmed Trends in U.S. as Reminder That a Clock is Not a Bomb
The story of Ahmed Mohamed has seen a rapid online spread after the 14-year-old Texan student was arrested after his teachers mistook his homemade clock for a “hoax bomb.” The online outrage culminated with the #IStandWithAhmed, which commentators have largely used to show their support for Mohamed’s skill and inventiveness.
Mohamed’s story has already evoked a positive response from the White House, with President Obama having invited him to Washington, D.C., while saying that the boy is proof of the importance of passion for science. Even as the POTUS has weighed in, numerous others have found creative ways to praise Mohamed, while mocking the circumstances of his arrest and reminding us that a clock is not a bomb:
