Mitt Romney Unveils New Spanish-Language Ad In Florida

Video

Mitt Romney‘s campaign is looking forward beyond South Carolina and straight down to The Sunshine State. In an effort to court Florida’s Spanish-speaking contingency — particularly, it would appear, Miami’s Cuban population — Romney’s new ad features Cuban-born politicians Mario Díaz-Balart, Lincoln Díaz-Balart, and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, as well as Romney’s son, Craig, all speaking entirely in Spanish.

Narrated by Craig, the ad touts his father’s commitment to American values. Here’s the translation:

The United States represents liberty, opportunity, [a place] where anything is possible. I am Craig Romney. My father, Mitt Romney, believes in those American values because he has lived them and will fight to restore the greatness of our nation.

Romney himself closes the ad by sharing that “Soy Mitt Romney y apruebo este mensaje. Muchas gracias.”

As The Tampa Bay Times and The Miami Herald are reporting today, Quinnipiac University’s latest poll shoes that, if the election were to be held right now, Romney would garner 46 percent of the Florida vote to President Barack Obama‘s 43 percent.

That was good!  But can we please get Miguel Bloombito to do the next one?

So if you or anyone you know or love is an immigrant who wishes to become an American, vote for Romney and you can tell them good bye.   Romney is a firm non believer in the Dream act which would allow a path to citizenship to those who earn it.  So Romney’s own father, a Mexican immigrant who ran for President of the United States could never have become an American citizen if his son becomes president.

    “Mitt Romney Es Mas Macho.”

    “Mitt Romney Has-a Muy Dinero.”
“Como Esta Leaf Blower Mi Casa, Panchito?”

“La Raza Back-o the Bordero Fenceo. Comprende?”

“Soy Mitt Romney y apruebo este mensaje. Muchas Pink-Slipos.”

More than half my family are immigrants, and half are from Mexico.  I really don’t understand the sophomoric attacks on a candidate who expects some sort of legal order in the immigration process.  People who support anything less than legal and fair order just whine, complete with emotionally-expressed anecdotes.

Speaking as someone with a lot of Mexican family, I am sick and tired of these people who head self-interested activist groups, but claim to represent all Latinos.  These folks who appear in the media with just the right color of face, a Hispanic-sounding name, and a trace of an accent have become pathetic caricatures and pawns of media outlets who just want attention and will do anything for better ratings.  I personally know some of them.  They barely speak Spanish, and their backgrounds give them no right to claim they represent all Latinos.

My whole family is supporting Mitt Romney.  He has every right to pursue the Latino vote, and if he manages to get his message out without these above-mentioned caricatures distorting the heck out of it, Romney will get a huge part of the vote.

I’ll tell you this much:  Romney will do dramatically more for Hispanics than Obama.  ”See Say Puayday.”  LOL!

Did I ever tell you señor and señoritas about the time we strapped a Chihuahua on the roof of our car on a family vacation to Cuba? Uh oh!
