Rachel Maddow Laments Pat Robertson’s First Amendment Rights

video

Alas, Pat Robertson saying crazy, offensive things during terrible moments is not necessarily a new thing: in 2005 he also suggested that Katrina was a punishment sent from God (Rachel Maddow provides a litany of other examples below) . What is new, however, is YouTube and Twitter, meaning within minutes of Robertson’s comments becoming public yesterday a whole lot more people (i.e. the public at large and not merely the people who choose to listen to this sort of garbage) were aware of Robertson’s idiocy than would have been in years past. At which point the wrath of the media at large descended on Roberts. All in the space of about six hours. How’s that for instant karma. The reaction was apparently so intense that Robertson’s people are reportedly trying to downplay the “cursed by the devil” remark. Good luck with that.

Anyway, adding to Shep Smith’s disgusted reaction to Robertson yesterday is Rachel Maddow, who last night called Robertson “the unintended consequence of your First Amendment.” And you know what? She’s right. Though somehow those consequences seem less frightening in the large scheme of things when confronted with a bunch of angry Twitterers. Below that the Haitian ambassador Raymond Joseph gives Pat Robertson and “all of America” a short history lesson that is well worth your time. Videos below:

The Morning Joe team condemned the despicable comments of Rush Limbaugh as well this morning.

    True Robertson’s comments were stupid.

However if you listen to Rachel Madcow enough, many times twisting, misconstruing and embellishing stories to her radical luntic leftist thinking, the same could be said about her.

    Using her words…
Ladies and gentlemen, behold Rachel Madcow, the unintended consequences of your First Amendment..

Free Speech only applies to people on the far left. They don’t like opposing views. It’s funny when “The Morning Joe team” condemns Rush Limbaugh when he was exposing the double standard/hypocrisy of the far left, when Kieth Olbermann used the devastating Haiti earthquake for the need of health care reform last night…

Again who was really surprised that Pat Robertson said this? At this point, it’s an outrage game for these people to show who can act the most pissed off.

What a strange turn of phrase. Is it not her First Amendment, too?

RE: Pat Robertson – Haitians ‘Swore A Pact To The Devil’
MY COMMENT: Fellow ‘pompous ass’ Brit Hume couldn’t have said it any better!
P.S. There is so much sickness (mental illness) in this world. And since you mentioned the “devil” Pat, what about your ‘blood diamonds’ pact with Liberia’s Charles McArthur Ghankay Taylor (formerly one of Africa’s most prominent warlords / currently on trial for war crimes)?
FROM WIKIPEDIA: …According to a 2 June 1999, article in The Virginian-Pilot,[18] Robertson had extensive business dealings with Liberian president Charles Taylor. According to the article, Taylor gave Robertson the rights to mine for diamonds in Liberia’s mineral-rich countryside. According to two Operation Blessing pilots who reported this incident to the state of Virginia for investigation in 1994, Robertson used his Operation Blessing planes to haul diamond-mining equipment to Robertson’s mines in Liberia, despite the fact that Robertson was telling his 700 Club viewers that the planes were sending relief supplies to the victims of the genocide in Rwanda. In response to Taylor’s alleged crimes against humanity the United States Congress passed a bill in November 2003 that offered two million dollars for his capture. Robertson accused President Bush of “undermining a Christian, Baptist president to bring in Muslim rebels to take over the country.” At the time Taylor was harboring Al Qaeda operatives who were funding their operations through the illegal diamond trade…

Marigrace – ABSOULTELY RIGHT!!!1 Rachel MAD COW is just as bad as Robertson – she made a SLIP UP about the Preamble of the Constitution or something (I didn’t see it myself, but BOY did I read about it in a lot of E-MAIL FORWARDS!!1) and Robertson blamed the death of THOUSANDS on their failure to accept JESUS CHRIST!!1 Wake up, America, there is NO DIFFERENCE!!!1 You might as well throw the Obamessiah in there for his famous “57 states” gaffe!!!1 Oh and also HE USES A TELEPROMPTER!!!111 HahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHahahaHAHAHA lolololol!!!!1

I have a problem equating Rush’s comments and Robertson’s comments. Rush, whether you like it or not, has a good basis for asking what this administration might try to do to take advantage of this crisis. Remember, their own chief of staff said ‘Never let a crisis go to waste’. That’s the problem with crying ‘wolf’ all the time,
when it is real people tend to be sceptical. Now do I think they will try to use this for an advantage? Hell no.
They are not that stupid but the possiblity is out there.

Robertson is trying to red the mind of god which never ends well….

It is Madcow’s First Amendment, same as everyone Else’s.

Her phrasing may be an indication of exactly how she feels about the First Amendment, in that in her opinion, the amendment is imperfect ,beings it grants freedom of speech to those with which “Her Royal Highness, The Madcow” disagrees.

I love it when right-wing fucktards cough up furballs like this:

However if you listen to Rachel Madcow enough, many times twisting, misconstruing and embellishing stories to her radical luntic leftist thinking, the same could be said about her.

You will provide examples of this, right?

  • marigrace marigrace says:

Continuing calling the Ugandan bill, “Kill the Gay’s Bil”, when that part was removed.

Proporting that there will be zero tolerance to homosexuality in that country and ALL gays will be killed, when the bill stated that there would be zero tolerance towards those gay people who were spreading AIDS.

That American Christian conservatives were to blame for the bill.

That Rick Warren was partly to blame simply because he didn’t speak out soon enough.

That was from one segment, do you want more?

  • marigrace marigrace says:

The previous response was to Jelperman’s…..

You will provide examples of this, right?

  • Jelperman Jelperman says:

You are such a bad liar. The Kill The Gays Bill carried the death penalty for anyone engaged in sexual acts that could spread AIDS whether they had the disease or not. By the way, since when is it a good thing to kill AIDS patients?

CNN Reports: Protesters Shout Racial And Gay Slurs At Lewis And Frank (Update)

    video

"Rising tensions on Capitol Hill" is a cliche in cable news, but it may never have been apt than today. With the House currently negotiating a controversial vote on a health care reform, protesters have gathered to voice their opposition to the bill. CNN's Capitol Hill reporter Dana Bash reports today of personally witnessing epithets being used towards John Lewis (D-GA) and Barney Frank (D-MA) by protesters that were identified earlier as "Tea Party people."

Obama’s Final Push On Health Care To Democratic Caucus On Capitol Hill

    video

President Barack Obama spoke in the conference hall of the Capitol today about the health care reform bill which is coming close to meeting enough votes to pass in the House of Representatives, which earlier today decided not use the "deem and pass" strategy to railroad the bill through Congress. "I know this is a tough vote for some of you," said our president, adding "Don't do it for Nancy Pelosi, or Harry Reid, or me. Do It for the American People." Pay attention folks, this speech is definitely one for the history books.
