We’re Hiring a New Copy Editor!

Abrams Media owns and operates a fast growing suite of digital media publishing properties that reach over 10 million unique users each month. The sites include Mediaite (news/politics), The Mary Sue (geek/entertainment from female perspective, Runway Riot (fashion/beauty/e-commerce), The Braiser (food entertainment), and the soon to be launched law and crime site LawNewz.com.

Abrams Media is seeking an enthusiastic, freelance copy editor to review, choose, edit and help oversee written content.

Responsibilities:
– Revise, proofread, and edit copy for blog posts, newsletters, social content, websites advertising, emails and other projects
– Pitch story ideas to our websites (particularly to LawNewz.com) and contribute creative suggestions for new social content and blog posts
– Collaborate with different departments of the company from editorial to the sales team
– Oversee and prioritize work effectively and deliver well written copy to meet strict deadlines
– Exhibit excellent knowledge of grammar and best practices
– Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Required Skills:
– Bachelors degree
– Excellent oral and written communication skills and superior attention to detail
– Knowledge of WordPress required while Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, and various internet browsers is a plus.
– Excellent proofreading skills
– Able to juggle many tasks with ease and work independently
– Experience building traffic for a web publisher a big plus

This is a freelance position that pays hourly.
