Wyclef Jean’s Former Bandmate Endorses Wyclef’s Opponent In Haiti Election

Musician Wyclef Jean is running for President of Haiti, and the campaign has already drawn criticism from actor and activist Sean Penn.

How could this get stranger? Well Pras, formerly of The Fugees with Wyclef, has come out and endorsed…Wyclef’s rival.

MTV News interviewed Pras following his trip to Haiti to endorse Michel Martelly:

The reality is this, we need a real leader. Not just a regular leader, but a transformative leader. Someone that’s gonna be able to galvanize the Haitians down on the field, the Haitian-Americans…it’s a collective support — to take this country to the 21st century. And I’m just not convinced Wyclef is the one for that.

Fair points. Clearly, Martelly must have a political background as opposed to Wyclef, who, while playing the role of activist sometimes, is a musician. Well – no. Instead, Michel Martelly is better known as “Sweet Micky,” a hugely popular dancehall recording artist, who sometimes incorporates political messages into his songs. Here’s Sweet Micky, a “real leader.”

Pras didn’t completely throw Wyclef under the bus, noting “he’s done a lot for Haiti, he’s brought a lot of national attention to Haiti and I applaud him for that.” Wyclef and his representatives didn’t respond to MTV’s request for comment.

And now we wait anxiously to see who Lauryn Hill endorses.

Here’s the interview:

When you’re too crooked to be a politician , that might be a warning sign . Haiti does not need another thief in charge .

This proves my point…Endorsements mean NOTHING other than filler for people who write articles.

If people would take the time to develop a few core beliefs…well, maybe we would have had another POTUS right now.

Sean Penn? Well, that settles it, doesn’t it?
