Another Day, Another Uncomfortable AP Correction

The Associated Press just can’t seem to catch a break these days.

In the last two weeks, the AP has had to issue an unfortunate series of corrections and clarifications to at least three tweets the wire service’s Twitter account sent out.

Friday, it was a headline issue that needed some cleaning up.

“Plans underway to get American sick with Ebola,” read the initial headline, which gave some readers the impression that someone, somewhere is about to be injected with a deadly virus.

Shortly after that story was published, it was amended to read, “Plans underway to retrieve Americans sick with Ebola.”

That’s a little different.
