WATCH: Spider-Man Arrested for Punching Cop in Times Square
Spider-Man’s never been exactly beloved by the NYPD, which spends half its time chasing him rather than working with him to fight crime — curse you, J Jonah Jameson!!!!! — but things don’t usually get this ugly.
A Times Square Spider-Man was arrested for assaulting a police officer Saturday. The altercation started after a rookie officer overheard this amateur Spidey charging $10 for a photo. The costumed man quickly turned belligerent, and it took two officers to subdue him.
“The real Spider-Man would have never done something like this,” one officer said following the melee.
Police presence has been beefed up at Times Square following multiple incidences with costumed characters, including other Spider-Mans.
