Brian Sack And A Puppet Explain Why You Should Stop Calling People You Don’t Like ‘Hitler’

Sack video

If there’s been one thing that every Mediaite writer since the origin of this website back in 1862 (don’t look it up), it’s that people need to stop calling other people “Hitler.” We’ve written a number of columns about the issue but it seems like, every few months or so, there’s a new rash of Nazi-name calling. Maybe GBTV’s Brian Sack will have better luck in ending Godwin’s Law with this clip from The B.S. of A. Sack’s making the same argument, however, he’s trying one thing we’ve never thought of; puppets.

Rush Limbaugh: Maybe The Real Terrorists That We Face Are On Capitol Hill

Rush audio

Rush Limbaugh is not happy with Democratic leaders calling the GOP “hostage takers.” He responded by calling them some names of his own like “gangsters,” comparing them to Al Capone, and, for the kicker, “terrorists.” Uh oh. Don’t we know the problem with exaggerations like that?

Gibbs On Olbermann’s Nazi Appeasement Tax Compromise Comparison: ‘Stop.’

gibbs_olbermann video

During his patented Special Comment segment last week, Countdown host Keith Olbermann showed his displeasure with President Obama’s compromise on the Bush Tax Cuts by comparing it to Nazi appeasement. At Monday’s White House briefing, I asked Press Secretary Robert Gibbs if the White House had any reaction to the comparison. Gibbs responded that he doubted the President had heard Olbermann’s remarks, reiterated that the White House thinks the compromise is a good deal, and addressed the appeasement charge. See Gibbs’ response after the jump.

Keith Olbermann Compares Obama’s Tax Compromise with Nazi Appeasement

Special_Comment video

He might deny it, using a lace doily of a fig leaf that would embarrass even Rush Limbaugh, but Countdown host Keith Olbermann‘s “Special Comment” Tuesday night heavily featured that most Godwinian of rhetorical devices: the Nazi comparison. Angrily responding to President Obama‘s compromise on the Bush Tax Cuts, Olbermann quoted Winston Churchill extensively, ran down a laundry list of missed opportunities and broken promises, and even lent support to a primary challenge to the President.

Chris Matthews On Sharron Angle: “I Don’t Want To Compare Her To Hitler, But…”

Angle Matthews video

On Hardball earlier, Chris Matthews was demonstrating how extreme Sharron Angle is by showcasing the infamous clips of the Nevada candidate discussing the “Second Amendment remedies” which could cure the country of its Harry Reid problems. Matthews was correct in saying that there’s really no way of interpreting the quotes other than that Angle was talking physical intimidation, one of the most extreme ways to win any argument. Matthews then proceded to helpfully demonstrate the second most extreme way by (kind of, sort of, maybe, a little bit) comparing Angle to Hitler.

White House Declares War On Hitler References

Robert Gibbs’ answer to David Corn of Mother Jones’ last question at Friday’s briefing is getting considerable attention from the right. Corn asked Gibbs about House Republican leader John Boehner’s declaration that the House health care bill was the “greatest threat to freedom” he’s ever seen. Gibbs’ response was worth a slight chuckle, but they ignore his larger point.
