We here at Mediaite watch a lot of cable news. We also sometimes watch television that’s actually entertaining. Last night, this writer was watching this week’s How I Met Your Mother, a show that’s not as good as it once was but that I still watch because I’m totally sure they’re going to reveal the mom like any day now. I just know it!

Anyway, during that episode, I noticed a bizarre blooper that I became hypnotized by, rewatching it with my roommates about 50 times. This morning I showed it to my coworkers and we all watched it 50 times more. It’s brought us all a little joy on this cloudy day and maybe it will bring the same to you.

It’s a scoop related to pop culture and primetime television, so the source should be no surprise. Michael Ausiello is reporting that Arianna Huffington will be the next guest to join the ensemble cast of How I Met Your Mother for an episode later this spring. Ausiello also tragically noted that she won’t be the titular Mother that Josh Radnor’s Ted has been boring his kids with for years (although it would new a great TV moment if she ends up as the next conquest of Neil Patrick Harris’s Barney).

Who would have thought that frequent O’Reilly Factor guest Bernie Goldberg and Mediaite’s Rachel Sklar would find common ground? CBS’s “Frosty the Inappropriate Snowman” mashes up video from the beloved children’s classic with risqué audio from CBS’ How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Men. Goldberg described it as “pathetic:”

Wow. What an age we live in. On one network, Adam Lambert is banned for being lewd and lascivious; on another, “Frosty the Snowman” is celebrated for it. Yes that’s right: CBS has taken that favorite holiday classic and defiled it with porn, boobs and a pretty clear reference to crabs.

Neil Patrick Harris is a magician, literally. He does magic tricks (video inside). But Harris’ career has also been magical: a child star turned grown-up award host; an anxious closet case turned poster boy for “content” gay actors. All eyes on Harris at this weekend’s Emmy awards.
