Baltimore Police Union: Charges in Freddie Gray Case ‘Egregious Rush to Judgment’
The Baltimore Fraternal Order of Police held a press conference this afternoon in reaction to the charges filed against the six officers involved in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray.
FOP President Gene Ryan sent out a letter today to State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby asking for an independent prosecutor and alleging conflicts of interest on her part.
Michael Davey, an attorney for the union, said in the presser, “I have never seen such a hurried rush to file criminal charges, which I believe are driven by forces which are separate and apart from the application of law and the facts of this case as we know them.”
He insisted that all six officers did absolutely nothing wrong, and was appalled by Mosby’s “egregious rush to judgment.”
