It’s been another day of Andrew Breitbart having to explain how, through no fault of his own, another nail just pierced Rep. Anthony Weiner‘s political coffin, and after releasing a statement earlier today explaining how he lost control of the one photo of Rep. Weiner he promised not to release, he appeared alongside host Eliot Spitzer to detail how the radio shock jocks breached his trust to publish the photo.

Before it was somehow eclipsed by the stranger-than-fiction reality that the Congressman’s wife is pregnant, the extremely graphic photo of the Congressman’s genitals was by far the top news of the day, less than 24 hours after Breitbart promised not to release it. And, he told Spitzer, he didn’t break that promise. “If you listen further in the video,” Breitbart tells Spitzer, “[show co-host] Jim Norton assures me that there are no cameras.” He explains that he needed to show the photo because it was proof, and that the radio hosts themselves “admitted that they took this photo surrepticiously.”

Spitzer did not challenge his assertions. “I’m absolutely willing to take your word for that,” adding that Breitbart hadn’t profited from the photo in any way that would indicate he wanted it released. He then asked how far the investigation would have gotten had Rep. Weiner been forthright about the situation. “I don’t think I would [have continued] because I think the story would have died,” Breitbart explained, noting that the only reason he had continued investigating was because he was being accused of fabrication: “I was in the process of trying to find information that would exonerate me.”

Ultimately, Breitbart didn’t feel comfortable calling for Rep. Weiner’s resignation– “I don’t want to be the arbiter”– but noted that he didn’t see Rep. Weiner “doing any favors to the American people” and that the lying was the clear problem: “I’ve never been part of the morality police.”

My guess is that there will be an announcement at the end of the day on Friday that Weiner is gone.

On Monday the convicted criminals Congressman Charlie Rangle and Senator Vitter will be back on the job.

Yeah, but Kennedy and Johnson lied and got 20 times as many Americans killed, which is still only 1/7 of the number of Americans FDR got killed.

It takes an arrow out of Breitbart’s quiver for the pic to have been released. He was holding it as leverage to protect the girls that were his sources. Now, with no more damaging material left to be released, the rabid left is free to go after the girls and attack them so to intimidate any more out there than may come forward with an even more damaging story to tell.

Even so, it’s probably too late for Weiner since many establishment (D)emocrat voices seems to have broken with his plan to retain his seat in congress.

I’m not against the picture coming out. I’m glad it did. Get it all out and force Weiner to resign. That’s what I say.

What I am also against is someone claiming they are the better person for keeping it private while all the time sharing it with his buddies in the locker room.

It’s common practice for media people to share information (or sources) that isn’t intended to be released to the public so that the particulars of a story can be confirmed, the better to get at the truth. Mediaite’s own Tommy Christopher recently wrote in an article stipulating that he was involved in the exact same situation with Breitbart in regards to the source girls.

You (and others here) are just creeping around the edges trying to ferret out some slim thread to criticize a conservative media personality. Even if it isn’t there, you’ll invent it. In fact, his trust was violated by Opie and Anthony, as they, themselves admit.

Nonetheless, he didn’t release the photo and he most certainly is not to blame for Weiners proclivity for abberrant behavior. I don’t expect you to understand this, but those of us with daughters (even if they are “of age”) take stuff like this very seriously. Even if my daughter is 20, if he had engaged in this behavior with her I’d break his buff little neck. Weiner and his devout fans here obviously think women are nothing more than spooge receptacles and that is sad.
