Andy Rooney announced he was making his final regular appearance on 60 Minutes this Sunday.

The witty raconteur has regularly given end-of-show commentary on the news magazine program since 1978 and was notable for his quirky, curmudgeon points-of-view on various mundane subjects. Sunday will mark Rooney’s 1,097th essay for the show.

To celebrate the occasion, the Twitterati created an Andy Rooney hashtag, #MyAndyRooneyAudition, as a tribute to the 92-year-old living legend, here are a sample:

Did you ever go to buy a can of Pringles and come home with tennis balls ?

Let’s hope lots of people at CBS News follow Mr. Rooney’s example.  That organization carries more dead wood than a hardware store.

Does anyone watch 60 Minutes anymore?  The last time I watched was around 1971 or so.

No, but if you wear baggy pants no one will notice…. (cymbal crash!)

Did you ever notice that Andy used to be funny, now he is just a liberal in an old man suit?

You know you are getting old when your eyebrows are curb feelers, and your ears have more growth than Billy Gibbons beard.
