Chris Matthews Suggests Newt Gingrich’s Hand Gestures Are Religious

Chris Matthews is amazed at Newt Gingrich‘s transformation to appeal to Republican primary voters and claimed he never knew Newt was so Christian in his politics. Calling Newt’s religious strategy and statements about morality “blindingly audacious,” Matthews was having fun talking about the “new Newt.”

Matthews also hypothesized that Newt’s body language was religious, suggesting “even the hand gestures – there’s something very Christian about that – it’s like he’s receiving information and he’s giving it to us . . . it’s something very Christian-era about this guy.” And possibly knowing that many of his recent statements about Newt have raised some eyebrows, Matthews hesitated, “I shouldn’t even say this,” before concluding that Newt reminded him of a bank robber who either wears a zoot suit or something so strange that you focus on the costume instead of the person.

Newt doesn’t have to fear though, since it seems no matter what he wears, Matthews will still find him and impressively be able to consistently come up with new analogies to describe him.
