Congressman Laughs at Conservative Sheriff for Saying Pot Causes Violent Behavior
During a House Judiciary hearing Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN) asked conservative Milwaukee sheriff and frequent Fox News guest David Clarke if he thought marijuana possession should excluded from the discussion of violent drug offenses that included meth, crack, and heroin. When Clarke said no, Cohen burst out laughing.
“You said that illegal drug use is the scourge of the black community and it is a problem and leads to a great deal of violent crime,” Cohen asked Tuesday. “Would you agree that marijuana possession is not the scourge of the black community and does not lead to violent crime the same way that meth, crack cocaine, and heroin do?”
Cohen was visibly amused by Clarke’s denial. “It was such an obvious answer,” he said, explaining why he’d asked. “I just never thought I’d get that answer.”
